Unattractive people are more likely to wear coronavirus face masks then attractive people, despite the fact that the pandemic years is already over, according to a new study from Seoul National University in South Korea.

“Our results consistently demonstrated that self-perceived unattractive individuals were more willing to wear a mask, as they believed it would benefit their attractiveness,” wrote the authors of the study in the report, that was published in Frontiers in Psychology.

The scientists also managed ro reveal, that people who wore masks earlier during the pandemic years,to protect themselves from diseases as a main purpose, have now switched the purpose of considering wearing a mask in the post-Covid-19 era.

The study showed that people who consider themselves having an “unattractive” physical appearance, are more likely to continue to wear a face mask to hide their “ugliness”. While people who consider themselves to be physical “attractive” and beautiful, are more likely to remove the masks as fast as possible, to show off in public with their “assets”.

“Our findings suggest that mask-wearing can shift from being a self-protection measure during the COVID-19 pandemic to a self-presentation tactic in the post-pandemic era,” wrote the authors in the study.
