The very popular diet form for the last couple of years, especially among celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Joe Rogan, Kourtney Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston and Mark Wahlberg, the so called intermittent fasting diet, turns out to be dangerous and could kill you.

According to a new study, “Food for thought: If you eat and when you eat can impact your mortality”, constituted by researchers at the University of Tennesse Health Science in Memphis that was published in the journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, showed that intermittent fasting as diet method, increased the risk of dying early with up to 30%.

Intermittent fasting is a form of periodic diet method, that basically means that you skip one or two meals during the day, mostly breakfast, to lose weight and get in shape faster, to get that six-pack beach abs many people strive for.

The study could show that people over the age of 40, who ate just a single meal each day – as opposed to three recommended meals – were 30% more likely to die early within 15 years.

Dr. Yangbo Sun, one of the researchers behind the study said; “Our research revealed that individuals eating only one meal a day are more likely to die than those who had more daily meals,”

The cause of early death in relations to a intermittent fasting diet, could in the study also show that people who ate only one meal per day, often ate much bigger portions due to the hunger they accumulated during the day. A type of diet form which over time could end up damaging the body, in terms of metabolic strain when people shove in to much food into their body during only one meal. And by eating just one meal per day, this could cause stress to the body, which in return could lead to a heart disease and a early death, the study revealed.
