Russia opens criminal case against ICC – Medvedev: Possible hypersonic missiles could be fired at The Hague court

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the prosecutor and judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, in Netherlands on Monday, after the court issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officilas, Tass reports.
The Committee annonuced that the criminal case regards the “prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Ahmad Khan, judges of the International Criminal Court Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala, and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez”.
According to the Committee, the criminal case against the prosecutor was opened on “charges of criminal prosecution of an innocent person with illegal charges of committing a grave or especially grave crime, as well as of plotting an attack on a foreign official enjoying international protection with the aim of aggravating international relations”.
The Hague judges are accused by the Russian Committee of “illegal imprisonment” and “plotting an attack on a foreign official enjoying international protection with the aim of aggravating international relations”.
The former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev has also reacted to the ICC:s arrest warrants of Russian officials.
Medvedev wrote on his Telegram account: “The court is just a miserable international organization, not the population of a NATO country”.
He then said that a hypersonic missile could be used to target the ICC:
“It’s quite possible to imagine a hypersonic missile being fired from the North Sea from a Russian ship at The Hague courthouse,” wrote Medvedev, and added:
“Therefore, the war will not start. They will be afraid. And no one will regret. So, citizens of the judge, look carefully.”
The ICC expressed concerns over the “threats” from Russia, and stated that it “regrets these attempts to hinder international efforts to ensure accountability for acts that are prohibited under general international law”.
Another critic of the ICC, is the US former national security, John Bolton. He said on Monday that “nothing will happen” after the court issued an arrest warrant for Putin, claiming it’s not ICC:s place to prosecute Putin for alleged crimes that had happened during the conflict.
Bolton went on and said that the US should not co-operate with the “illegitimate” ICC, Sky News reports.
