People evacuated in Denmark from “misconstructed” high buildings when the storm “Otto” is awaited

Published February 17, 2023 | By NewsJive.com

The storm “Otto” is on its way over the Danish capital Copenhagen on Friday. Residents in several high-rise buildings have been ordered to leave their homes before 6 p.m. Danish time, because the buildings might collapse due to “misconstruction”.

According to the property owner, KAB, the buildings are poorly constructed and there is a risk that they will collapse, Ritzau reports.

280 residents are affected. The high-rise buildings in question were built in 1955 and have a construction defect that means they cannot withstand more than 11-12 m/s in average wind.
