An Australian company called Vow has produced a new type of food. A meatball made of meat from the extinct mammoth.

The company Vow has specialized in using cells from unconventional species to create new kinds of meat, as a project to show the potential of growing flesh from cells and to prove that you don’t need to slaughter animals to produce meat.

Vow has already produced meat from more than 50 species, like buffalo, crocodile, kangaroo, alpaca and peacocks.

A spokesperson at Vow told The Guardian: “We chose the woolly mammoth because it’s a symbol of diversity loss and a symbol of climate change.”

The mammoth is believed to have been extinct due to global warming since the last ice age and because of hunting by humans.
