The state of Berlin in Germany has been ordered by a court to pay 100.00 euros in damage fees to a brothel in the German capital, after they had been falsely accused by the state of being tied up with the Mafia.
The biggest brothel in Berlin, Artemis, was raided by the federal authorities back in 2016, after suspicions of tax fraud and ties to organized crime. Over 900 police officers, customs investigators and state prosecuters took part in the raid, in search for evidence of criminal activity with links to criminal gangs.
But no connections to organized crime could be proved according to a court in Berlin at the time being. Therefore two operators connected to the brothel, filed a complain towards the state of Berlin in 2018, and sued them in court for false claims, demanding a damage fee.
The Berlin Chamber Court decided on Tuesday that the state of Berlin must pay a compensation of a total sum of 100.000 euros to the two operators, according to the Welt.
