Serial rapist who has attacked numerous women continues to be released by Swedish authorities – Now detained for sex crimes against children

His name is Fredrik Lundgren and is known as the “Nytorgsmannen”. He is considered one of Sweden’s worst rapists of all time after raping several women over several years, and who is constantly released from Swedish prisons to commit new rapes. Now, he is once again kept in custody, this time for sex crimes against children.

Lundgren, as he is now called after having previously been called Andreas Holm when he had to change his name to gain protection and a new identity, has previously served a prison sentence for which he was convicted of at 2021, when he received a five years jail sentence for a series of sexual crimes against women.

For several years, he secretly filmed, drugged and sexually exploited women in his home in Stockholm. He was released in early 2023 due to Sweden’s liberal criminal laws that takes the interests of the perpetrators into a very high consideration, but was once again arrested in November 2024 after being suspected of a new rape of a woman in the southern Swedish city of Hörby.

Now, Lundgren has once again been requested to be detained in custody, after Lund District Court decided on Friday to remand him for five counts of sexual assault against children, after police found new evidence on Lundgren’s devices, consisting of material in the form of surreptitious filming in public environments at various locations in Scania in southern Sweden, that may constitute sexual abuse of children, according to District Prosecutor, Anders Stridh.

Lundgren is said to have misbehaved several times during his time in prison, but still is released on regular basis to commit new sex crimes.
