India is expected to overtake China as the world’s most populous country in 2023.
The already heavily overpopulized country is expected to have a population of over 1.4 billion. And according to the Economist, this could contribute to the country’s economic development if the young people are given the right conditions, not mentioning how and if this will impact on the environment and the so called “climate crisis” with a overpopulated country.
With a sharply fallen child mortality and with 25 million children being born in the country every year – which is a fifth of all newborns in the world – India will have 1.7 billion inhabitants in 2070.
Apparently the young Indian population’s consumption habits will be the crucial injection to the economic boost, that will drive the economy forward by more shopping. But to be able to spend money, they will have to find jobs to earn money. Which is unclear how that will develop in relation to the fact that the competition for the jobs will increase with a lareger population, and the fact that more and more jobs are expected to be taken over by robots and automatization processes due to the technical development.
